ECE PhD Student Wins FLEX 2024 Future Student Poster Award

Yilmaz Arin Manav, PhD’28, electrical engineering, won first place at the Innovators of the Future Student Poster Award session at FLEX 2024 (SEMICON West) for his research on “Flexible Hybrid Electronics Metrology Enabled by GHz Ultrasound.” He works in ECE Assistant Professor Benyamin Davaji’s Autonomous Integrated Microsystems Lab and is a student at the Institute for NanoSystems Innovation.

Cell Nuclear Force Probe Reveals Mechanomemory That May Impact Cell Memory and Health

BioE Professor Ning Wang published research in Cell Reports that demonstrates a process of mechanomemory within a cell’s nucleus. This discovery prompts a prolonged period of activation of a protein complex responsible for gene expression, which can lead to making new proteins and potentially healthier cells.

Using AI To Save Lives on the Battlefield

Liam McEneaney, MS’25, engineering and public policy, is working with ECE Associate Professor Sarah Ostadabbas and MIE Teaching Professor Beverly Kris Jaeger-Helton, and in collaboration with MIT Lincoln Lab, to develop an AI-powered computer program that will accurately and quickly fill out tactical combat casualty care cards for injured soldiers on its own on the battlefield by processing video and audio from medics in real time, and quickly sending the digital card to hospital staff.

BioE PhD Student Earns Prestigious IBSA Foundation Doctoral Fellowship

Helna Mary Baby, a BioE PhD student, advised by BioE Associate Professor Ambika Bajpayee, is one of only six students worldwide to earn the prestigious IBSA Foundation for Scientific Research Doctoral Fellowship to continue her work on developing novel gene delivery system to treat osteoarthritis. Her project was selected from a group of 248 project entries from 47 countries.
