SWE was established to have fun and promote women in engineering!
This organization was founded with the following mission and objectives:
Objectives:
- To inform young women, their parents, counselors, and the public in general of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them.
- To assist women engineers in readying themselves for a return to active work after temporary retirement.
- To serve as a center of information on women in engineering.
- To encourage women engineers to attain high levels of educational and professional achievement.

One Degree Further: How Katherine Growney Is Preparing to Make an Impact
Katherine Growney, E/MS’26, mechanical engineering, completed three co-ops during her time at Northeastern. Through the Plus One program, she enters the workforce with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, industry experience across multiple fields, and a drive to build technology that makes a difference in people’s lives.
2026 Udall Scholarship Nominees
Melissa Bernardin, E’27, chemical engineering and environmental engineering, and Caleb Hagner, E’27, environmental engineering and chemical engineering, are two of four students nominated for the Udall Scholarship by Northeastern University.
