Stephen Lynch, E’89, electrical engineering, has successfully led companies that produce technologies to efficiently manage and distribute energy across networks of power sources, including devices on the edge. Both the technical expertise and people skills he learned while on co-op have contributed to his success.

Creating a Device To Detect Epileptic Seizures
In collaboration with ECE Distinguished Professor Nian Sun, Mukki Gill, E’25, mechanical engineering and history, is developing Zor, a portable device that can predict when its user is about to have an epileptic seizure. She received a second place Women Who Empower Award from Northeastern in the Powering a Healthy Tomorrow Award category, and an honorable mention in the undergraduate category.

Co-ops Helped Alumnus Reach Top Tier of Computer Industry
Quincy Allen, E’82, electrical engineering, attributes his three co-ops to setting him apart from others when he graduated and landed a job at Xerox Corp., where he eventually became president of its Production Systems Group. Today, he continues to support technology companies as a board member.

Co-ops at GE Aviation, Harvard Apparatus, and Te.sla Motors helped Clare Cashen, E’16, mechanical engineering, discover her career interests and aspirations. Today, she is a product assurance engineer at Rolls Royce, while pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University.
