Designing a Bat-Inspired Robot for Confined Space Exploration
ECE Associate Professor Alireza Ramezani developed a bat-inspired robot called Aerobat that can navigate tight spaces, opening up new possibilities for exploration and inspection in confined environments. Ramezani published his research on “A morphology-centered view towards describing bats dynamically versatile wing conformations” in The International Journal of Robotics Research.

MGEN Assistant Teaching Professor Ahmed Abdeen Hamed published his work, “Detection of ChatGPT Fake Science With the XFakeSci Learning Algorithm,” in Scientific Reports. His algorithm is nearly twice as successful as more common data-mining techniques, detecting up to 94% of inauthentic papers.

SFPE 2024 Jack Bono Award for Engineering Communication
MIE Distinguished Professor Yiannis Levendis is one of 15 collaborators who received the 2024 Jack Bono Award for Engineering Communication in the field of fire technology from the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) for their paper “The Use of Unmanned Aerial Systems in Outdoor Fire Fighting.”
